Varaždin, 22nd December 2011 - On a ceremony held in the City Hall in Varaždin, Vaba d.d. bank Varaždin donated today to the Solidarity fund of the City of Varaždin the funds with which children beds for the youngest inhabitants of the Home for victims of domestic violence (Saint Nicholas Shelter) will be purchased. Namely, the funds that were intended for the purchase of Christmas presents and cards have been donated to the Saint Nicholas Shelter through the purchase of children beds, that will without doubt make the days the the children spend in this shelter easier to bare.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor of Varaždin Vjeran Radelić, Head of the Solidarity Fund of the City of Varaždin Darinka Hajduk-Vučić, Petar Zrinski, President of the Management Committee of the Fund, Head of the Saint Nicholas Shelter, and Josip Šeremet, Deputy CEO of Vaba d.d. bank Varaždin, as well as by Ivana Cesar, Head of Retail Banking Division of Vaba d.d. bank Varaždin.
Home for victims of domestic violence - Saint Nicholas Shelter - has been active in Varaždin since 2004, and since than has taken care of over 800 of violence victims. It has been founded by the Solidarity Fund of the City of Varaždin and Caritas of Varaždin Bishopric. The Home currently takes care of 17 people, being 7 women and 10 children.
Besides the basic existential conditions, the proteges of the institution receive psychosocial assistance on a daily basis. The shelter is financed based on the contract signed with the Ministry of Health and Social Care and based on donations such as the one made by Vaba bank.
